Christmas season is here already! Can  you believe it?  This weekend kicks off some of the areas beloved Parades in the aas well as craft shows, ice shows and more!

Below is a list of just a few things this weekend to bring in the holiday spirit!

The Middleburg Parade is probably one of my favorite days of the year.  It is on Saturday, December 2^nd.  The festivities start in the morning with a breakfast with Santa at 730am. At 11 is the Hunt Revue where the Middleburg Hunt rides through town with the hounds and horses.  After a lunch break, the Christmas Parade starts at 2pm.  Just a lovely day from start to finish.  And now, Lost Barrel Brewery is having an after party!  You can find the schedule here:  Parade Day Schedule – Christmas in Middleburg

If you are looking for something closer in and for tonight, Purcellville is hosting their Tree lighting Ceremony at the Purcellville town hall.  See Santa and listen to caroling from the local high schools.

Back to Saturday…if a craft show is on your agenda, the Leesburg Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Show is always a favorite.  Held at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center from 9-4 pm on Saturday or from 10-4 pm on Sunday.  If you are around at 6pm, stop by for Leesburg to light their tree at the Leesburg Town Hall. Local musicians will perform holiday music and the Mayor will deliver a message.   leesburgva.gov/holidaysinleesburg

On Saturday evening, the Ion International Training Center , will be hosting a Holiday Spectacular Ice Show!

Another show worth watching is at Franklin Parks Arts Center – The Goose Creek Players are presenting the Miracle on 34^th St starting at 7:30pm

This weekend kicks off many “First Friday” events in the area.  First Friday is typically a day when an area has a group of stores that stay open later for the public to shop and dine on the first Friday of every month.  In Loudoun County, the Leesburg First Friday event has become quite popular.  Leesburg shuts down the streets downtown so people can safely walk from shops to dining locations.  Check out www.leesburgfirstfriday.com for more information.

If you want to a change of pace from Leesburg’s First Friday, but still want a similar experience, Old Town Winchester has its own First Friday in their downtown walking mall – www.oldtownwinchesterVA.com.  Neighboring Fairfax County has a First Friday Art Walk as well which looks fun – 1st Friday Art Walk (fxva.com)

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year.  I love seeing everyone’s costumes and attending Halloween parties, haunted houses/trails or other events.  So, thought I would share some fun and scary haunted forests and trails, houses or events either in Loudoun County or not too far away.

Markoff’s Haunted Forest – Markoff’s Haunted Forest | Haunted attraction Maryland | 19120 Martinsburg Road, Dickerson, MD, USA (markoffshauntedforest.com) Markoff’s is one of my all time favorite places to go during the Halloween season. Hanging out waiting for your turn is actually really fun because you can hang out by the fire, or walk around to see several activities.

Shocktober – Leesburg, VA Shocktober | Shocktober. The location for Shocktober is held in one of the few truly haunted houses in the United States. Enter if you dare! But this is one of the top haunted houses in the country so might be a must see on your list.

Loudoun Museum Hauntings – Loudoun Museum (visitloudoun.org) Take a walking tour around historic downtown Leesburg to learn about the local hauntings and tales of the town.

Air and Scare Air and Space Museum – airandspace.si.edu/udvarhazy Tha Air and Space Museum is hosting its annual Halloween event on October 26th. Take the family and enjoy creepy crafts, spooky science experiments and other Halloween-themed activities like trick-or-treating among the planes, helicopters and rare aircraft. Wear your costumes!

2023 Haunted Trail at Salamander Resort & Spa – Haunted Trail (salamanderresort.com). Salamander Resort is hosting a spook-tacular night of fun and fright on their outdoor trail – October 26-29 from 6:30-9:30. The trail is only 0.6 miles and features 10 actor scenes from 7-9pm for children 4-12. The fright free trail with no actors in the scenes is at 6:30 pm. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Madhaunters Madhouse 2023 – Purcellville –  (madhaunter.com) Madhaunters was awarded Virginia’s “Top Haunt” accolade in five out of six years by FrightFind. Rumor has it there is no relaxing or relief at Madhaunters – there are unspeakable and frightening real horror visages that stalk every corner which may cause you to scream like you’ve never screamed before! This sounds like a horror attraction Halloween enthusiasts don’t want to miss!

Haunted Nightmares Winchester, VA – Haunted Nightmares – Virginia Haunted Houses   Haunted Nightmares | Haunted House | Winchester VA Haunted Nightmares is an intense haunted attraction in nearby Winchester. Trained actors with professional makeup and detailed sets, this sounds like it is worth the trip! Have you been here? Comment below on your thoughts!

Bark Bash at One Loudoun – Loudoun Humane HSLC at Halloween Bark Bash –2023 Halloween Bark Bash — One Loudoun (downtownoneloudoun.com) Saturday Oct 28th take your furry friend in their best costume to One Loudoun from 1-3pm. Local pet focused businesses, animal rescue groups, and more will make an exciting outing for trick or treating, adoptable dogs, music, costumes, and animals galore.
